Before you buy a catheter from an online store, though, be sure that you’re getting the type that you want, whether that is disposable or reusable.

While you don’t technically need a prescription to use a catheter, you will need someone who will teach you to use the tool correctly and safely. Also, if you’re ordering a reusable catheter, be sure that you know how to clean it and store it properly to keep yourself from getting infections, and don’t forget to keep some lubricant with your catheter, since you’ll need it, too.
